The Institute was established by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in October 1991 and is now being sponsored by the Government of Pondicherry also with a prime objective of developing human resource for the hospitality industry. Besides, it provides job opportunities to the youth in a wide range. Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology is located on the Uppalam Road in Pondicherry. This institute was established by the Government of India in 1991. It offers three year diploma course in hotel management and catering technology, and one and a half year craft courses.
