Sexual Dimorphism

Sexual Dimorphism The occurrence of morphological differences (other than *primary sexual characters) that distin¬guish males from females of a species of or¬ganism (e.g. male deer often have larger antlers than females, and the males of many birds have differing (often more brightly coloured) plumage). These are all secondary sexual characters, but not all sexual dimorphism is directly sex-related. For example, female sparrowhawk; (Accipiter nisus) are bigger than males, i difference that is possibly related to re source partitioning of prey, females taking larger birds, or to the needs of incubation
