Mental health problems in all societies are on the rise. The global WHO study (2001) demonstrated that at least 20% of all consumers at the primary care le el have some mental disorder, and mot of these patients do not receive treatment for mental disorder, According to Government of Gujarat Mental Health Care Policy, 2005, it is estimated that there are 2.8 million adults with common and servere mental disorder at any point in time in Gujarat. To bridge the glaring gap between the need and the available care in existing health framework, some of the specific challenges that demand urgent attention from mental health sector include:
Shortage of trained human resource
Inadequate training capacity
PCCMHA 2010 Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate should have Graduate in any discipline with English Language as one of the subject in any year and with an interest in the field of Mental Health.
PCCMHA 2010 Pattern Of Course Delivery:
Course will be conducted 3 times a year (Nov, Feb, July)
Complete duration of the course is 2 and half months (10 weeks)
Combined examination for all batches
6 days contact teaching with lectures and tutorials and fieldwork using workshop methodology.
2 home assignments, 3000 words each, 8 week literature based project, case report or equivalent.
2 days summary and completion (including feedback on essays, supervision).
