Visvabharati University admissions
Visvabharati University was established in the year 1863. The ashram was initially called Brahmacharya Ashram, which was later renamed Brahmacharya Vidyalaya. The university provides any graduate and Postgraduate Programmes. Visva-Bharati is ensconced in a rural setting in the district of Birbhum, about 160 km by road from Kolkata. The school was a conscious repudiation of the system introduced in India by the British rulers and Rabindranath initially sought to realize the intrinsic values of the ancient education in India.

Central Library
The Visvabharti University provides a Central Library. The genesis of the library in Visva-Bharati goes back to 1901, with the founding of the Brahmacharya asrama at Santiniketan. The library at Visva-Bharati grew under his care with help coming from great minds all over the world. The central library has today 3, 76,531 volumes of books, around 4,000 users and a daily transaction of 300 books.

Rabindra Bhavna Library
The Rabindra Bhavna Library was established in 1942. The library has over 40,000 books which include different editions of the poet’s writings, translations in various languages, a rare pamphlet collection, journals in which the writings by Tagore first appeared, newspaper clippings on Rabindranath dating to 1905.
